Jonathon's story
What role do you currently do at Arden?
My role as Senior Lecturer involves overseeing new innovations and ensuring students have a quality learning experience.
What role did you originally start out in?
I started at Arden as a Lecturer last March, teaching and developing the Foundation Year module 'Advancing Your Academic Skills.
When did you progress into your current role and what is your favourite part of the job you do now?
My new role began last month - I still have a lot to learn!
How has Arden University supported your career development and growth, and what resources or opportunities did you find particularly beneficial along the way?
The Institute of Foundation Studies at Arden offered opportunities for growth throughout my time here. There are opportunities if you want them and I struggle to say 'no'!
What would you say to Arden colleagues who are looking to advance their careers within Arden?
I would advise colleagues to find a space that they can own - whether it is a specific area of knowledge or leadership opportunities. Get you name out there and do not be afraid to put yourself in uncomfortable situations.
Lastly, what would you say to someone considering Arden as their next career move?
As with all jobs - do your research, speak to colleagues/future colleagues to understand and set your expectations. Figure out what you can offer and what Arden can offer as part of your next career move.
