This role operates on a hybrid working arrangement that will require 3 or 4 days travel into the Stratford campus. This may fluctuate in line with business requirements. Our working model arrangements are a non-contractual benefit so please note that an Arden work location is added to our employment contracts.

The Faculty of Foundation Studies is Arden University’s academic gateway into higher education, supporting students from admission and induction through to achievement, progression and future success. Bringing together Foundation Year, Foundation Degree, new-student induction and academic admissions activity, the Faculty provides accessible and inclusive pathways for students from a wide range of educational, personal and professional backgrounds.

About the Opportunity:
This is an exciting opportunity for an early-career academic to develop their Higher Education experience across teaching, assessment, personal academic coaching, academic support, academic interviewing and application review.
Working alongside experienced academics, you'll contribute to teaching and learning across your subject area, support students through their academic journey, and develop your skills in delivering engaging learning experiences. You'll also take responsibility as a Personal Academic Coach (PAC) for a defined group of students, building positive relationships and providing proactive, personalised support to help them stay engaged, progress and succeed.
In addition, you'll support the admissions process through reviewing applications, conducting academic interviews and making recommendations on applicant suitability, helping to ensure prospective students are well prepared for their chosen programme of study.
You'll contribute to assessment and feedback, develop teaching resources, analyse student feedback and support the wider delivery of modules. With guidance from experienced colleagues, you'll have the opportunity to build your academic practice, gain valuable Higher Education experience and make a meaningful difference to our students' success.
About You:
You’ll be a passionate and knowledgeable academic or subject specialist who enjoys sharing your expertise and supporting students to succeed. A confident communicator and collaborative team player, you’ll be committed to developing your own practice and contributing to the continuous improvement of our programmes and student experience.
As we continue to expand our Foundation Degree provision, we are seeking colleagues with expertise in one of the following: Business, Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Finance, Sustainability, Health and Care Management, Computing. Whether your background is academic, professional, or a combination of both, you will bring subject knowledge, enthusiasm and a commitment to helping students from diverse backgrounds achieve their educational and career aspirations.
You will be confident in supporting students throughout their academic journey, providing high-quality teaching, assessment and feedback, and working collaboratively with colleagues to enhance student engagement, progression and success. You will also contribute to academic admissions activity, including reviewing applications, conducting academic interviews and making recommendations on applicant suitability.
An interest in the application of Artificial Intelligence in education, digital transformation, entrepreneurship, enterprise and innovation would be advantageous. We are particularly interested in individuals who are keen to explore emerging approaches to learning, teaching and student support, and who can help students develop the skills, confidence and adaptability needed to succeed in a rapidly changing world.
You will be enthusiastic about creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment, embracing innovative approaches to teaching and learning, and contributing to the development of high-quality Foundation Degree.
Essential Skills / Experience
Good Honours degree in a relevant subject, or relevant professional qualifications, experience and membership.
Strong specialist knowledge across your discipline or subject area.
Ability to communicate specialist or technical concepts clearly and effectively.
Ability to contribute to programme enhancement and continuous improvement.
Confident use of Microsoft 365 applications and digital tools.
Strong commitment to continuing professional development.
Desirable Skills / Experience
Higher degree or PhD in a relevant subject, or currently working towards one.
Recognised Higher Education teaching qualification and/or Advance HE Fellowship at FHEA or SFHEA level, or willingness to achieve within 18 months of appointment.
Teaching or academic support experience within an educational environment.
Experience using e-learning technologies and a commitment to digital education.
Experience engaging learners through innovative and effective digital teaching approaches.
Collaborative experience within an educational or academic team.
