This role operates initially on a remote working arrangement with potential plans to make the role office based in Prague within the next few months. Our working model arrangements are a non-contractual benefit so please note that an Arden work location is added to our employment contracts. You will need to be based in the Czech Republic for remote working for this role.
The post holder will be required to attend Start Smart events in the UK 4 times a year, once each semester. You will also need to be able to attend campus research group meetings on occasion as required.

This role is part of our fully digital Library service, working with acquisitions, reading list provision, and library systems to ensure an inclusive, high-quality resource is provided.
About the Opportunity:
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Research Support Librarian to join our Library Services team at Arden University.
Reporting to the Deputy Head of Library Services (Acquisitions & Systems), you will play a key role in supporting the University’s research lifecycle through the management of digital research content, repository services, open access publishing, and researcher development.
In this exciting position, you will take primary responsibility for the administration and development of Arden’s institutional repository, ensuring research outputs are accurate, discoverable, and compliant with publisher, funder, and institutional requirements. You will also support the management of open educational resources, student dissertations, and staff research profiles, helping to maximise the visibility and impact of the University’s research.
You will lead on publishing support activities, including promoting read-and-publish agreements, administering APC workflows, supporting journal hosting platforms, and advising researchers on copyright, licensing, and publishing options. You will act as a trusted source of guidance for academic staff navigating the evolving scholarly communications landscape.
A key part of the role will involve delivering training and guidance to researchers and academic colleagues on topics such as publishing research outputs, selecting journals, open access, research data management, repository deposits, and research impact. You will help foster a culture of open research and best practice across the University community.
You will also contribute to service improvement projects, collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, and help shape the future development of Arden’s digital research infrastructure and support services.
This role offers an excellent opportunity for a candidate with strong organisational, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills who is passionate about research support, innovation, and delivering high-quality digital library services.
About You:
You will need a strong foundation in research support and digital library services, backed by either a postgraduate qualification in Librarianship or Information Science, or a proven track record of extensive, relevant professional experience within academic libraries, research support, or scholarly communications.
You will be someone who thrives in a collaborative, service‑focused environment and is motivated by helping researchers navigate an evolving scholarly landscape. You will combine technical capability with excellent communication skills, and enjoy supporting others to achieve best practice in open research.
You will demonstrate:
Expertise in managing digital research content, including institutional repositories, research outputs, and metadata quality.
Understanding of open access publishing, funder requirements, copyright, licensing, and scholarly communication trends.
Confidence delivering training and guidance to researchers and academic colleagues on topics such as publishing, open access, research data management, and research impact.
Strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritise, meet deadlines, and contribute to service development initiatives.
Experience engaging with stakeholders, building positive working relationships, and acting as a trusted advisor to academic staff.
A proactive, solutions‑focused mindset, with enthusiasm for innovation and improving digital research infrastructure.
Above all, you will need to be passionate about supporting research excellence, enhancing the visibility of scholarly work, and fostering a culture of openness and good practice across the University community.
