This role operates primarily on a remote working arrangement that will require at minimum one visit to our Coventry head office or various campuses per month. Our working model arrangements are a non-contractual benefit so please note that an Arden work location is added to our employment contracts.

About our Department:
The Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer sits within our Technology Department that is crucial to making sure our employees and students can work effectively, deliver projects, find the right solutions and ensure we develop the technology that will make the biggest difference.
Our IT team is made up of around 65 employees with a vast range of skills from Software Development to IT Operations and Security.
Our IT Department values employee development and we have lots of great examples of employee progression and promotions within the team.
About the Opportunity:
The Senior Infrastructure Engineer will play a pivotal role in bringing the University’s IT vision and strategy to life. As Arden University continues to scale rapidly across the UK and internationally, technology is central to enabling our growth, innovation and student experience. You will be instrumental in shaping and delivering initiatives that enhance the stability, security and scalability of our technology landscape.
Working at the heart of our IT operations, you will take help drive forward a diverse and evolving infrastructure estate, spanning cloud services, on-premise servers and virtualisation platforms, network and VOIP technologies, and Microsoft 365. This role offers the opportunity to make a tangible impact, ensuring our technology platforms are robust, future-ready and capable of supporting the University’s continued expansion.
About You:
You'll need the following skills / experience:
MS Active Directory / Azure AD / GPO / DNS / DHCP / Certificate Services / DFS
Automation by MCM /Intune - usage, management, packaging and reporting
Virtualisation technologies such as Hyper-V & VMWare and Azure Virtual Desktop
Good Scripting skills (e.g. MS PowerShell)
IT Networks (VLANs, WAN, VPN, MPLS etc.)
Messaging, incorporating Microsoft Exchange OnPrem, Microsoft Office 365 Exchange Online, and Windows In-Tune via Microsoft Azure.
Linux (e.g. Ubuntu, Centos, RHEL) and Linux based applications such as Apache, HAProxy, MySQL, RabbitMQ.
Managing and maintaining backup services (e.g. Veeam or similar).
Infrastructure monitoring solutions
Creating and maintaining Advanced PowerShell Scripts and Graph API for automation
Infrastructure Services including DNS, DHCP, PKI and IPAM.
In depth knowledge of Security technologies (Firewall / AV / Device Encryption)
Knowledge of COTS Desktop software (e.g. Adobe products / MS Office / Java / etc.)
Knowledge of Storage technologies (e.g. Nimble)
Knowledge of Microsoft Desktop operating systems as well as associated tools and technologies (Win 11 / MDT / MDOP / etc).
Wide-ranging knowledge of Server & Desktop industry standards.
Desirable skills / Experience
Dev/Ops practises including automation, CI & CD Pipelines (e.g. Jenkins)
AWS, especially EC2, VPC, RDS, S3, Cloudfront, Route 53, IAM, CloudWatch
Managing and automating code deployments and CI/CD pipelines, especially using Jenkins and Terraform.
Telephony technology (Teams phone system, SIP, SBC, VOIP, Unified Communications)
