About the Department:

The Academic Skills Team at Arden University is dedicated to helping students excel in every aspect of their academic journey. Whether starting out in higher education, returning after a break, or aiming to enhance their existing skills, we provide tailored support and effective study strategies. From research and referencing to critical thinking and academic writing, our team is here to provide expert guidance every step of the way.

About the Opportunity:

As an Academic Skills Tutor within the Learning Success Hub, you will play a vital role in empowering students to excel in their academic journey. This dynamic position focuses on delivering tailored academic skills support, enabling students to unlock their full potential and achieve academic success.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver Workshops and One-on-One Support: Facilitate workshops and provide personalised assistance to develop students’ academic skills.
• Support Across Programs and Levels: Assist students from various programs and educational levels in enhancing their academic capabilities.
• Monitor and Enhance Student Engagement: Track student engagement and implement strategies to support and increase participation.
• Contribute to Program Development: Participate in the innovative development of academic skills programs to ensure high-quality student experiences.
• Focus Areas: Support students with academic writing, academic integrity, effective study habits, and digital literacy.

About You:

We are looking for a dedicated Academic Skills Tutor with the following qualifications and attributes:

• Proven Experience: Demonstrated experience in supporting students to develop strong academic skills across diverse programs.
• Digital Literacy: Excellent digital literacy skills with a passion for enhancing students’ digital competencies.
• Educational Background: Holding or working towards a postgraduate degree in relevant fields such as EAP, English, Leadership and Management, Social Science, Psychology, Law, Criminology, STEM, or Health Care and Management.
• Personal Attributes: Empathetic, understanding, and kind, with the ability to support a diverse student population effectively.
• Self-Motivated and Organised: Highly motivated, positive, ambitious, and organised with a genuine enthusiasm for delivering blended and online learning.
• Commitment to Continuous Improvement: Dedicated to ongoing professional development and sharing best practices to foster continuous improvement.
