About the Department:
The Computing Department at Arden University is committed to providing students with the skills, knowledge, and practical experience necessary to develop in the fast-growing and ever-evolving tech industry.
Through a blended and distance learning, we prepare students for diverse careers, ranging from software development and cybersecurity to data analysis and IT consultancy. Our programmes emphasise innovation, problem-solving, and real-world application, ensuring graduates are equipped to meet the challenges of the digital age and succeed in a global, technology-driven market.
About the role:
Main duties and responsibilities:
- Teaching and training activities that support our dissertations and projects (both face to face and online).
- Dissertation and final year project module support, ensuring levels of consistency and quality and developing our learning materials and schemes of work.
- Assessment marking and development, developing authentic assessments, ensuring appropriate marking guidance is provided and maintaining levels of quality in terms of feedback and evaluation processes.
- Support the development of industry projects.
- Assisting with the development of new programmes and the review and refresh of our existing programmes, ensuring alignment with employer requirements and the employability needs of our students.
- Working with colleagues to advise and support students undertaking project modules in line with University ethical policies.
- Supporting student induction activities.
- Innovate in terms of teaching practice, support, and assessment.
About You:
You will be an excellent communicator, able to explain computing concepts to diverse audiences and inspire students as they engage with our courses and modules.
Our undergraduate and postgraduate Computing programmes include topics such as:
- Programming
- Databases
- Data Analysis
- IT Security
- Cloud Infrastructure
- IT Project Management
- Systems Analysis
- Ethics in IT
You should also demonstrate the ability to support students working on a range of projects across these areas.
Ideally, you will have:
- Developed project management skills in an industry setting.
- Experience that you can bring into the classroom, enabling students to engage in authentic, work-focused learning.
You will be confident in using various teaching techniques that align with Arden’s emphasis on active learning, both for:
- Face-to-face sessions at our study centres.
- Online platforms, such as Zoom.
You should also be comfortable supervising final year and Masters projects, helping students apply their academic and technical skills to address real-world challenges.
