The Department
Arden University Students’ Association (AUSA) has been set up to provide the best quality representation and advocacy for students at Arden University, under the governance and organisation of the University itself.
The Opportunity
Your Students’ Association is looking for three students to join their Advisory Board, which exists to ensure that we act in the best interest of all students and scrutinises how we deliver our strategic outcomes. You will work alongside external members who bring expertise from a range of specialities, and University senior staff members, to input into the strategic direction of the Association.
This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in positive change for you and other students, working at a strategic level alongside senior & experienced individuals who support Arden University.
It’s important to note that Your Students’ Association and the Advisory Board are both still developing in the best interest of students, so you will need to be flexible, adaptable and mindful of the transitional period.
About You
· You will need to be an existing Arden University student, and must still be a student at Arden by the end of the one year term (October 2027).
· You will need to have an interest or experience in one or more of the following areas: finance, human resources, volunteer management, governance, student representation, or operational delivery
· You must be interested in sharing your experience and those of your fellow students to inform strategic conversations and idea development.
· We are looking for students who have a good understanding of the issues impacting Arden University life, be able to confidently ask questions and have a strong commitment to positive change for all backgrounds.
· You will need to be comfortable and confident in the presence of new people, and happy to share your experience in a group setting.
· You will need to be available to commit up to 10 hours per quarter including attending mandatory Advisory Board meetings, and be in a position to do this alongside your ongoing responsibilities & studies.
Commitment
You will participate and input into quarterly Advisory Board meetings, share your feedback and that of other students, confidently ask questions about decision making, and input into ideas of how the University can best support students across the Arden community.
You will need to be able to attend all quarterly Advisory Board meetings, which each last for 2.5 hours, and commit to preparing for meetings by reading documents and attending training or briefing calls. The dates for upcoming meetings have been provided in the recruitment pack.
The meetings are primarily held online, but where travel is necessary reasonable expenses will be considered.
Application Process
When you apply for the role, you will be asked to answer an application question that explains why you are interested in the role, what you would bring to the Advisory Board and any experiences that make you a standout candidate.
You will also need to provide a cover letter (approximately one side of A4) detailing how you fit the person specification in the recruitment pack. Please refer to Page 9 of the recruitment pack which explains what we are looking for from our Advisory Board members.
Why Join Us?
This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of thousands of students studying across the UK and internationally. You will contribute to an innovative Students’ Association at a pivotal stage of its development, working with dedicated students, sector experts and senior stakeholders to influence positive change.
