Associate Lecturer - Foundation Year - Berlin
Arden University is a growing organisation delivering blended and online study options to students studying towards Undergraduate and Postgraduate degrees. Aside from the study centre in Berlin, we have study centres in numerous locations across the UK and a head office based in Coventry.
The Role
This is a blended learning role paid at Euro 55 per hour.
Delivering at our Berlin Centre, you will be teaching Arden University blended learning students by utilising a range of innovative learning materials and resources.
We run occasional staff training events in Berlin and our Coventry Head Office, there would be an expectation for you to attend where possible.
Following a period of continued growth at Arden University, the Berlin Study Centre wishes to appoint an Associate Lecturer to deliver foundation year modules to our international students studying on the Blended Learning full-time Foundation Year at our Berlin Study Centre.
We're seeking candidates with a proven track record of delivering L3 modules in an FE or HE context. With a post-graduate degree in one of the many subjects we teach across Arden you will focus on student centred teaching and have solid experience teaching and assessing. You will be comfortable in delivering teaching using a range of multimedia platforms and have to be passionate about creating an active learning environment for Foundation Year students.
Experience of teaching within an online or blended learning context and familiarity using virtual learning environments and other tools to support our students learning is also important, as well as experience in teaching international students, and students with English as a second language.
As a foundation year lecturer, you will report to the International Programme Lead, and work with other foundation year lecturers, as well as liaise with the Institute of Foundation Studies to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of the programme (in accordance with university strategy, policies, and procedures).
About Arden University
At Arden University our vision is to make education more accessible, engaging and beneficial to people everywhere. It is an exciting period for the University as we continue with our transformation and development programme, driving an industry-leading learner experience and further developing our innovative ‘compressed-blended’ full time degrees across 5 campus locations.
We are ambitious in our growth plans, and have just set out our 5 year strategy, which involves developing new courses, expanding into more countries across the globe and continuing to provide our students with a first-class education experience, accessible in a flexible and convenient way.
We are a value driven organisation, and in line with our values of supportiveness, integrity, pioneering spirit, collective energy and empowerment, we want to make sure that each of our study centres is delivering an outstanding student experience that is completely aligned to our brand promise, whilst providing a tailored and personalised experience reflective of the local needs and culture of the student and staff profile.
We pride ourselves on the relationships we build with our students, supporting them realise their potential. We recognise that the pressures of people’s hectic, modern lives often mean our students are constrained - by location, cost, family/caring commitments or simply time.
By making our degrees, masters and MBA programmes available through both online distance learning and flexible on-campus ‘blended’ study, we have been able to support students ranging from 18 to 80 years old to achieve their ambitions and benefit from Higher Education.
This is an exciting time to join a University that represents the future of Higher Education.
Working Pattern
Whilst some of the role involves supporting students virtually, you will primarily be required to deliver in-person teaching 1 to 4 days per week during a study block (10 weeks), from either 9am-1pm, or 1:30pm–5:30pm depending on the requirements and complete marking at the end of each study block.
Please outline in your application your availability to deliver teaching.
Please note that this role is a freelance opportunity and teaching allocation is not guaranteed for every study block.
As a suitable applicant, you will be able to demonstrate you hold a German/EU/EEA passport, a tier-one visa, or a valid Biometric Residence Permit.
