About Arden: We pride ourselves on being true innovators, disruptors and pioneers, our focus is to promote life-long learning and ensure that everyone, everywhere can access higher education. As a private University we operate at a faster pace, we are more creative and entrepreneurial, and we are not afraid to take risks. We are small enough to be agile, but with grand plans to make a global impact. We have offices across the UK and in Berlin and in the next five years, you will see us in most continents across the globe, but we need you to help us achieve this. We are also proud to have won the Education Business of the year 2020 - Education Investor!
The Opportunity: You will manage a programme team in ensuring a high quality student experience, including carrying out regular and systematic programme review to ensure that the curriculum and all learning materials are and remain current and relevant. You will line manage a team of lecturers (PAYE and contract staff) providing induction, guidance, coaching and development review to support the growth and development of teaching practice. Driving effective pedagogic strategies which meet the diverse needs of students, develop teaching, learning and assessment practices and contribute to the dissemination of good practice within their subject and the University is key to the role. In addition, you will drive the development of new programme proposals and contribute to curriculum development within the School of Law.
About You: You will need to have a Master’s Degree or an equivalent professional qualification and/or professional experience in a relevant subject area. You will need to have excellent breadth and depth of specialist knowledge of solicitors’ training (such as the new SQE) and professional legal practice. Previous experience of programme leadership would be very useful as you will need to lead and, where appropriate, manage (including line manage) a programme team of module leaders, lecturers and associate lecturers. You will need to be able to design online course materials and to plan and organise the delivery and assessment of courses to the standards required within an agreed quality framework.
It would be particularly beneficial if you have had experience of managing and/or teaching the Legal Practice Course and are qualified and have experience of professional practice as a solicitor.
