Role: Deputy Head of School of Computing (Principal Lecturer)
Salary: Circa £57,000
Based in our Warwick/Coventry Head Office - with some flexibility
The Opportunity: The Principal Lecturer is a subject expert, providing academic leadership within their School and supporting the Head of School. They are responsible for achieving targets in student outcomes and satisfaction (internal and external surveys), continually enhancing existing programmes and developing new programmes. A positive role model to their peers and students, they will also line manage Programme Leaders/Senior Lecturers and potentially other members of academic teams. They will be responsible for recruitment of academic staff in their School and potentially undertake teaching and related duties on programmes relevant to their area of expertise, where possible. They will lead staff development within the School and work closely with the Director of CILT to contribute to the delivery of Arden’s ambitious Academic Staff Development Plan. They also represent the University and its values, promoting the University and programme at external and internal events and collaborate effectively with other academic colleagues and key stakeholders across the University.

You will play a key role in supporting and deputising for the Head of School as we develop our subject area portfolio. An innovation mindset and an entrepreneurial approach are essential, as is a commitment to ensuring student progression and success. You will need a keen eye for detail, ensuring that standards of teaching, learning and assessment are met and leading change where required. You’ll need to be a strong communicator, working with stakeholders at all levels within the institution. Students are at the heart of everything we do so you will need to work with the Head of School and academic colleagues to ensure that we offer a student experience to shout about.
